Where possible, it is usually in the best interests of all parties to negotiate their family law matter
Where possible it is our preference to direct our clients to mediation and other forms of alternate dispute resolution.
Mediation is a form of alternate dispute resolution which provides a forum for parties to discuss their family law matter and, where possible, reach a resolution without it being necessary to seek the assistance of the Court.
Quite often matters resolve shortly after the institution of legal proceedings, mostly because it is the first occasion the parties and their lawyers are together and have the ability to talk about possible resolutions. It is for this reason, we urge client's to attempt mediation when it is appropriate.
Mediation can also provide parties with the opportunity to achieve certain outcomes that simply aren't available via the Court. It also provides parties with greater control in the resolution of their family law matter, as it is a joint decision of the parties instead of a Court Order imposed upon them.
We have established relationships with a variety of Nationally Accredited Mediators who act as the neutral facilitator to assist you and your former partner resolve your family law matter during mediation.
